Anja Gebauer Negri (she/her)

As an art educator, researcher, and visual artist, I work at the intersection of art, cultural education, and digitality. My approach is shaped by participatory methods and a strong focus on cultural participation. I am particularly interested in how artistic and educational processes can be conceptualized and developed from intersectional, queer-feminist, and anti-discriminatory perspectives—especially in the context of digital culture.

After completing my degree in Art and Primary School Education in 2016, I worked as a research associate at the Institute of Art Education at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, where I was involved in teaching and research. As part of my doctoral research, I investigated the use of digital media in art education practices in museums. I subsequently worked at the Hamburger Kunsthalle as a research associate specializing in digital education and interpretation. From January 2024 to March 2025, I headed the Department of Art Education and Interpretation at the Museum der Moderne Salzburg.

From April 2025 to April 2026, I was based in Singapore for a research and international residency. As a DAAD scholarship holder, I conducted research at LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore as part of my postdoctoral project Magic Medium, focusing on contemporary Singaporean artistic practices and artistic research. I subsequently continued to work there remotely as a part-time lecturer in the MA Arts Pedagogy and Practice programme. In the winter semester of 2026/27, I am serving as a substitute professor for Art Education (Didaktik der Bildenden Künste) in the Department of History and Art Studies at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.

Alongside my institutional work, I work as an art educator and lecturer for museums, foundations, and professional development institutions such as the Federal Academy of Cultural Education Wolfenbüttel, the German Museums Association, and the German Federal Cultural Foundation.

In my artistic practice, I explore human–nature relationships in the Anthropocene, situated between nature and digitalization, self-positioning and environmental design. I develop my own exhibitions and participate in group exhibitions, always inspired by exchange, collaboration, and collective learning with people from diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences. Since 2016, I have presented my artistic work in various exhibitions in Germany, Italy, and Singapore.
