I am interested in how we create meaning and orientation in a world shaped by images, stories, nature and technology. My point of departure is a critical perspective on human self-understanding in the age of the digital Anthropocene. Land, water, plants, and mountains form a key point of reference; I examine how they are imbued with meaning, how they generate their own worlds, and how they provide orientation. In recent years, I have focused on phenomena such as the conquest of mountains in alpinism, the scientific objectification of nature through painting and drawing, and mythological narratives in intercultural contexts.
By combining visual exploration with aesthetic research, I engage with queer-feminist, emancipatory and power-critical perspectives to examine the deep entanglement of (more-than-human), spiritual, technological, and natural elements of the world. I draw on references to scientific imagery and findings, digital recordings, art-historical positions, and textual fragments from literature and music. These materials are interwoven with highly subjective memories and inspirations drawn from personal experience and my family history. Depending on the thematic focus, I expand this approach through photography, video installations, or performative elements. My artistic and academic practices consistently reveal interconnections, thematic overlaps, and methodological parallels.
Through my practice, I seek to create visual modes of access to the world that challenge compartmentalized thinking and open up aesthetic resonances within our digitally and postcolonially interconnected world.
