Activism, Queering and Participation as Transformative Strategies of Art Education

This year, the annual conference of the Scientific Society for Art Media Education eV on the topic of "STABLE TREMBLING - Transformative Practices in Art Education" will take place at the Münster Art Academy. I am looking forward to contributing to this and joining the discussion under the heading " Activism, Queering and Participation as Transformative Strategies in Art Education ".

The short description of my talk is as follows:

To what extent can art museums, as places of transformation, have a social impact? The keynote speech highlights three different focal points of museum art education: artistic activism, queering as a method of critically examining heteronormative perspectives, and participation as active co-creation with parts of society. What all the projects discussed have in common is an opening up of fields of action and a reorganization of power shares.

The lecture will highlight various programs, projects and experiences of the Museum der Moderne Salzburg and discuss them as transformative strategies of arts education – in order to ultimately explore an art education that can transformatively stabilize and shake up the museum institution.
